The Events security guard will have overall responsibility for security of the event and the event venue. He or she should be appointed as early as possible so he or she can be included in the planning processes.
- Be sufficiently senior to exercise the necessary authority
- Have direct access to the event manager
- Have a sound knowledge of protective security. Depending on the expected size and duration of the event, it might be necessary to allocate employees to assist the ESO. The duties of the ESO may include, but are not limited to:
- Seeking advice on the possible threats to the event
- Completing a security risk assessment for the event or venue
- Preparing any security plans based on the risk assessment activity
- Making necessary security preparations for the event
- Coordinating security during the event,
